Fun in the Sun!

Hi Fashionistas!

I hope you are all doing well and that your Monday is not a drag. I am on a short vacation right now but I really wanted to put up a post! The weather here right now is humid and hot so I was not able to take many outfit pictures as I had intended to since I go through a million outfits each day after sweating through all of them.

However, yesterday I went to the most beautiful place on this Earth (well in my opinion), Nonsuch Bay, Antigua! Look it up, it is honestly so gorgeous! The water is an ombre effect of all the blues in the crayon box. The air was so refreshing, cool, and breezy! The view was nonetheless breathtaking. And to top that off, I ate amazing food cooked by one of the best chefs in all of the Caribbean islands!

Here is the outfit that I wore to Nonsuch Bay, or Paradise, whatever you want to call it! :)

Since my sister had told me she planned on taking us here before I left the states, I packed this dress from Urban Outfitters. Urban is usually a bit expensive compared to most stores however, you should definitely check their sales because I got this dress for only $10 (original $80) last week! It was the ideal dress for this outing because of it's perfect length, floral and summer-like print, and long sleeves which gave it a very classy feel but was not thick enough to make me uncomfortable in the heat.

For accessories, I kept it light and simple with a gold chained necklace which I also purchased from Forever 21 last week, along with a few Alex and Ani bracelets and studs. My brown purse is from H&M. I chose a brown purse over a black one because brown tends to give a more casual and "laid back" look than black pieces.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Antigua is definitely an island you all should visit. Have you been to any of the other Caribbean islands?

Update: I was able to find the link for this dress, it is $20 online. Though the dress is on sale, it is pretty good quality. I have worn and washed it but it still looks good as new.

DIY: Makeup Brush Holder

Hi Beauties!

If you are anything like me, a month before moving into your new dorm or apartment, you will be constantly thinking about your new room and how you will decorate it. You will want it to be your "home away from home" but knowing that you will probably live there for only a few years, you will not want to spend a lot of money. The best way to minimize costs is to do-it-yourself (DIY)!

For this DIY, I will show you how to make a makeup brush holder that will compliment any room with it's simplicity and elegance. "Elegance" sounds like a very expensive word, I know. But would it make you feel better if I told you that one makeup brush holder only costs $3?! Affordable companies like "ELF" will charge you $6 for a boring black cup holder. With this DIY not only will you get something that looks 100 times better, but for half the cost!

Materials: (All from the Dollar Store)

- Glass/Acrylic Vases
- Candlestick holder
- Glue gun
- 1 Bag of Marbles

Instructions:

1. Apply glue around the top edge of the candlestick holder and attach vase.

2. Fill the vase with a bag of marbles, I used an assorted marble bag.

3. Load your makeup brushes by pushing them into the marbles to help them stand.

And we're done! I made two, one for my face brushes and another for my eye brushes. Instead of marbles, you can also use coffee beans as your filler! Not only will coffee beans help your brushes stand up but will also release an aroma of fresh brewed coffee. If you want to spice up your vases, you can add some ribbon or stickers!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY. Let me know if you recreate these and what you use as a filler.

Spring and Stripes

Hi Smarties!

Happy Sunday everyone :) ... said no one ever! Sorry, I am trying to make the end of the weekend a little less depressing. Hopefully, you all had a great weekend and are ready to take on the week ahead of you.

The weather has gotten warmer and it's starting to feel like "spring"! We can all finally come out of our caves and catch up with those friends that we left back in fall. Well, okay, I am being a little over dramatic, hopefully your winter wasn't THAT anti-social!

I, however, was tired of planning my lunch dates around the weather. I thought I'd show you an outfit I would wear to lunch with my friends on a nice spring day. It is weather appropriate, and as it is only the beginning of spring, you cannot rock the short shorts just yet!

I cuffed up my straight legged jeans and added a sheer striped shirt over a camisole. And since spring fashion is all about incorporating colors, I accessorized with a hot pink and gold necklace, a pink clutch, and nude 2 inch heels, the perfect height and color for a casual lunch.

Shirt &Necklace (Forever 21). Jeans & Clutch (American Eagle). Shoes (Marshalls).

This is the same striped shirt that I wore in the winter, buttoned up, under my winter coat and sweaters. Utilize the same things you wore during the winter, the long sleeved shirts and jeans and style them to make fun outfits for the spring!

I hope you enjoyed! What are your year-round essential pieces?  Let me know in the comments section. I would love to hear!

Houndstooth and Nail

Hi Fashionistas!

I hope your first day of spring is going well! Unfortunately, it is not all rainbows and butterflies here in Delaware. However, after the massive amount of snow we just had, I cannot complain. Transitioning into the weather has actually been surprisingly odd for me. Slowly but surely, I will get the hang of it (fingers crossed)!

Today, I wanted to show you the outfit I wore to class. It was simple, comfortable, but still looked like I tried. I woke up pretty early today but made a bad decision and ran errands before I had to leave for class, and like predicted, I came back home late, ran into the shower, could not do my hair, and wore mismatched socks (shhh!). However, I still had time to take a picture. :)

Sweater (Boscov's). Boots&Bag (Nordstrom). Leggings (Marshalls).

Leggings are the most easiest things to slip on in the morning and since the weather was decent, I wore a cami and this houndstooth sweater.

Since the outfit was clean with only the colors black and white, I added a small dainty gold necklace and a white/gold statement ring. As for my undone hair, I threw it up into bun which complemented the outfit well. Usually jewelry tie an outfit together but in this case, I think it was the clean and simple bun.

Hope you enjoyed! Remember, to look cute for class it does not take too much time.  If you do not have time to do your hair, just tie it up or put it in a bun to still keep the outfit crisp.

Plane Must-Haves!

Hello Smarties!

This upcoming week, I will be traveling finally to somewhere warm! Ahh...I can see myself right now, basking in the sunshine, feeling the subtle breeze, and hearing the sounds of the crashing waves. Paradise right?

But there is only one small problem...I hate flying. My reasoning is not because I get air or motion sickness like normal people, it is purely because I like to be a diva and hate when I am not comfortable. I have always been this way, it's true! When I was four, I spent the plane ride to California with only one sock on because I could not decide whether I was hot or cold. A few years ago, on my plane ride to India, I simply could not eat for the whole ride because the smell in the plane annoyed me.

Truth be told, I just want to drive everywhere. I hate the plane, the air vents that blast frigid cold air, the bathrooms, the seats, the blankets, the pillows, the food, the pointless magazines they provide, and to top that off, rude passengers.

However! Since it's not realistic to drive everywhere, I wanted to share my plane must-haves. Trust me, if these few items can calm a flyer like me, they are worth to keep in mind for your next trip!

1. Extra Gum- A necessity to avoid clogged ear and freshen up your mouth!

2. Scope- If someone is picking you up at the airport, you don't want your stinky breath to scare them
away and keep you stranded at the airport, now do you?

3. Dryer Sheet- Did you know that dryer sheets are great at removing static from your hair? It is a   lifesaver for your hair after it had been rubbing up on the plane seat.

4. Powder and Mascara- Together these are a dynamic duo. I do not usually wear makeup on a plane, but with a dab of powder and a swipe of mascara you immediately will look awake and fresh when you land.

5. Huggies - These are not only a great substitute for the .0001 ply toilet tissue in the bathroom but can be used as a makeup or wet wipe!

6. Hand Sanitizer- Imagine everything you touch from when you checked- in to when you landed...I do not even have to elaborate. If this is not your must have, make it one!

7. Tablet, Headphones, Magazines - Looking out the window can get real boring real fast, so to entertain myself I keep these in my bag to watch movies, listen to music, and read up on some girly stuff!

8. Glasses- Contacts can dry up. Keep a pair handy, most likely you will need them!

9. Scarf/Shawl- When those airplane vents are blasting cold air in your face, it's to cuddle up with a shawl.

10. Deodorant- On a long journey your deodorant is bound to wear off and foul odor is a definite no-go! For those of you who naturally smell like perfume, still keep one of these handy and help that person whose odor is traveling from the economy class all the way to the cock pit.

11. Lip balm & Moisturizer- You do not want cracked lips or a cracked face. With the temperature on the plane, my lips and face are always purged and desperately in need of some moisture.

12. Food- I hate plane food like I mentioned before, and the snacks that they sell are as much as my apartment rent so no thank you, I will bring my own, and so should you!

13- Comb or Brush- After a long nap, my hair looks like a poodle's fur. A comb through the hair goes a longggg way..

14. Travel pillow- I had overlooked the travel pillow for so many years! I could not understand how it possibly provided comfort. However, I tried it a few years ago and let me tell you, I am never going back to my old ways! It will always come with me.

15. Advil- On my trip back from India, I started to have the cramps and yes, THOSE cramps! I honestly wanted to sky-dive out of the place without a parachute, this saved my life! You never know when you will get a headache, or back aches. Keep a pack.

I hope this will come in handy for your next trip! What are your must-haves?

Meeting New Classmates

Hi Smarties!
I cannot believe that last Saturday I attended my Accepted Students Reception for pharmacy school! Time is flying by so fast, feeling extremely blessed. But, this is the outfit that I wore. It was important for me to wear something casual but dress to impress.

Meeting new classmates was a very exciting experience! Last time I saw a few of them, I was wearing a suit for the interview process. This time I wanted my personality to shine, yet stay professional. To make the outfit a bit glamorous and chic, I played with colors and added a statement necklace, remembering not to go overboard because at the end of the day I was there for school.

Flats (Payless). Skirt (H&M). Bag (Steve Madden). Necklace (Nordstrom). Top (Limited).

It is nerve wrecking to meet new people but the first impression is everything! So make it the best impression without losing style and yourself. To those starting a chapter in their life and a new school along with me, I wish you luck!

And We Begin...Outfit to Class

And we begin….

Hi Be-you-tifuls!

Thank you so much for stop by The College Catwalk to read my first post!

I cannot believe it, my dream of having a blog is finally coming true with this post! As the name of my blog is “The College Catwalk”, I thought it would be fitting to start off by posting an outfit that I would wear to class. And I think spring is finally here to stay in Delaware and I could not be any happier! I mean, c’mon! If you are from the Northeast, you can relate!

On a spring morning, still a little chilly, all I want to do is roll out of bed, slip on sweats and be bundled up in a winter jacket twice my size. But, I have to stop myself and remember that dressing for the misery is going to make my day miserable. I believe that if you dress well and make yourself presentable, you will in turn feel the same way on the inside. A positive mind helps accomplish a positive day.

Boots and Shirt (TJ Maxx).  Leggings and Sweater (Marshalls).  Bag (Nordstrom)

To keep warm, I layered the sweater over the shirt to give it a more classic touch and paired it with a bag that tied in the colors from the whole ensemble.
I hope you enjoy this post and please let me know what you think! I am new at this and would love feedback!  And do not forget to read my “About Me” section to learn more about me! Thank you again, and have a great week!
