The Striped Summer Blues!

Hey Fashionistas!

This summer, casual and cute is the name of the game. I am sure that by now you have seen this skirt or it's twin sister maybe like 3 times on Instagram...Sorry, but I am in LOVE!

Maxi skirts are my summer essential. I am truthfully very lazy, and I don't feel like shaving my legs just for a tiny stubble everyday for anyone, especially not my best friend (whom I went to lunch with on this day). Maxi skirts are seriously the perfect go-to on a hot summer day when leggings and trousers become too stifling. They cover the legs, but have slits to provide the perfect breeze.

I bought this skirt for only $7.50 at Forever 21, it was on sale and I knew I had to grab it! I am not blessed with a perfect frame but with the endless styling options for maxi skirts, I can always feel comfortable and glamorous in one. On this particular hot day, I just tucked a black tank top into the skirt and accessorized with gold jewelry.

I hope your love for maxi skirts or maxi dresses is as passionate as mine! Let's all huddle and cross our fingers that this trend never goes away...or else I will be the only person rocking it lol. :) Hope you enjoyed!

Tuesday Tips 12: Drink To No Belly Fat!

Hi Guys!

When wearing that itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini, the last thing you want to worry about is that belly fat. This summer, you want to look your best but also stay healthy and hydrated in this scorching heat.

Drinking lots of water is always very important anytime in the year. However, adding three simple ingredients to your water can help you keep the belly fat away!

Ready for the recipe?

1 liter of water (approx ~ 32 oz.)
1 sliced cucumber
1 sliced lemon
8-10 mint leaves, depending on how strong you want it

Water is always be good for us. It helps flush the toxins and waste out of our system, helping our kidney and liver do their jobs easier.  Cucumber has an organic compound called citrulline which helps flush out toxins such as ammonia, which is very damaging to our cells. It also has an abundance of various vitamins such as B vitamin (B1,B2,B3,B5, B6), Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, and Zinc! Lemons are always refreshing! But it more importantly helps regulate our digestive tract and stimulate bile production which helps break down dietary fats in our small intestine. Last but not least, mint improves the flow of the bile from the liver to the gallbladder, to the small intestines and can relax those cramped muscles!

Hope you guys give this a try! It makes drinking water be more tastier and since most of belly fat is caused by digestive irregularities it'll be beneficial. This recipe makes about four 8oz. bottles, so make a pitcher, leave it in the fridge, and pour yourself a drink throughout the day!

Pink Ladies!

Hi Fashionistas!

There is no denying that I love the color pink! But I love this pink blazer more! If there is one thing in my closet that I will never throw away, it's this blazer. Though I don't wear it much, one of my favorite combinations is when I pair it with my black bodycon. When you want to wear an all black outfit, or that cheap bodycon you found years ago (guilty!), add something bright and bold to make the outfit pop!

One piece can make the outfit go from ratty and old to fashionable and new. I bought this dress a few years ago from Forever 21 ($12), and have worn it many times because of it's versatility (shown it in a previous post)! I bought the blazer from a random shop in NY for $18. Unlike many blazers, this one is super thin and looks almost "crisp" when you see it in person, which allows me to wear it year-round.  More BANG for my buck!

For accessories, I kept everything gold and black since the blazer was the "pop of color" that night. My thick tiered gold necklace and bracelet were both inexpensive from Forever 21. My shoes are from BCBG and my clutch was a gift so I'm sorry, I don't know the price, but you can find a black clutch almost anywhere!

What's your favorite item in your closet? Hope you enjoyed!

Tuesday Tips 11: Coat The Jewels!

Hi Beauties!

Who knew that clear nail polish and jewelry are friends? I know, I thought it was weird too but a few years ago I realized that clear nail polish helps the longevity of jewelry, fake jewelry that is. Today's post is a precaution tip to help your jewelry retain it's day-one condition and luster! Follow these super easy peasy steps!

Clear nail polish:

1.) Prevents fake silver from tarnishing
Have you ever gotten that ugly disease-looking green ring on your finger from wearing a faux silver ring? Apply a coat of clear polish on the inside of rings and on top of jewelry to prevent green rings and tarnishing.

2.) Keeps in the rhinestones intact
Many of my statement necklaces are made up of a zillion small rhinestones. Each and every rhinestone plays a great role in each statement jewelry, so once a rhinestone pops out, the beauty of the necklace disappears. It is hard to hide a missing rhinestone, but there is a way to prevent it. Apply one or two coats of the clear nail polish around the edges of the rhinestone, this will create a small adhesion to the backing of the jewelry.

3.) Gives it shine!
If your jewelry is starting to lose it's shine and beginning to look matte, a coat of clear polish will also help give it an artificial shine again!

Talkative Trousers!

Hi Fashionistas!

I love me my wide legged trousers!
Since I posted the "Spring Trend 2014" post, I had been on the hunt for a pair of cute trousers. I love them for two main reasons:
1.) They look cute on everyone by extenuating the legs and drawing attention to that itty bitty waist.
2.) They feel like pajamas.

The first time I wore them, I honestly felt like passing out because they are so comfortable!

A great thing about any pair of trousers is that you can dress it up or dress it down and still look chic. Printed trousers, especially, are a fun way to add uniqueness to your outfit. As they usually do most of the talking, the rest of the outfit practically requires no effort. :)

I bought these trousers from Marshalls for only $15! The tube top was 2/$10 from H&M. I chose a simple white one as it complemented the trousers but adding a bright colored tank top would be fun! To keep the same simple/effortless vibe, I added a pale blue necklace that I purchased from Forever 21 ($9). I didn't want to be too matchy-matchy with the same blue colored necklace or look like a clown with another bright colored necklace.

This bracelet is my new favorite!

So whatcha waiting for?! Get yourself a pair! Hehehe! I hope you enjoyed!

Tuesday Tips 10: Real Girls DO Sweat!

Hi Fashionistas!

I have to thank my mom for today's tip, she has been doing this since the beginning of time. Before she goes to an event, she sticks sweat pads in her sari blouses or dresses so she doesn't ruin her clothing with sweat or deodorant stains. But let's be honest, something much more worse than ruining your clothes is when others see that you have sweaty underarms! The antiperspirant deodorants usually are a hoax and do not work as expected.

Sweat pads can be pretty costly for the average college kid since you can only use a pair once. I usually purchase sweat pads from Jo-Ann Fabrics, but to be frank, I hate driving there! It is not only out of the way but I have hiked there so many times only to find that the sweat pads were sold out!
$7.99 for only 3 pairs!

But momma doesn't fear because she uses pantiliners instead!

$5.50 for 80 liners!
They stick easily to any clothing, do not leave behind stickiness, and are designed to absorb moisture and provide comfort in the most delicate of areas. So protect your clothing and your image and use pantiliners as sweat pads. The next time you wear that super tight bodycon dress, you will appreciate this tip!

One Can Always Use A Pop Of Color!

Hi Fashionistas!

Circle skirts and cropped tops seem to be trending again this summer....

With all the free time I have had recently, I went to lunch with my friend a few days ago. I wanted to dress comfortable and cute. I love incorporating brights summer outfits but I thought an off-white outfit with a small pop of color would do the trick.
This lace cropped top is from Forever 21($7 or $8). I don't mind showing a little bit of the mid-drift but I am not usually one to sport a full-on crop top so it was the perfect length for me. The skirt was $12 from H&M. I have two circle skirts from there and I have to admit that they fit like a glove! The skirts cinch at top to expose that itty bitty waist but follow below with a perfect flare.
To accessorize, I wore my brown strapped heels (Forever 21 $22), along with my usual brown purse from H&M. This necklace is unfortunately not from this country, I bought it when I went to visit my sister in Antigua earlier this year. When I saw the necklace, it was love at first sight so I bought it in 3 different colors! :)

Adding a bright accessory can make any outfit go from drab to fab! :) Hope you enjoyed!

Tuesday Tips 9: The Shoe Can Always Fit!

Hi Beauties!

You know those gorgeous pair of heels that you bought even though they were a bit smaller  in size? I surely do...
Right before my high school graduation, I set out to find the perfect pair of sparkly heels being the young diva that I was. I am usually a size 7.5 or 8, however I bought the prettiest heels in a size 7 since it was the only size left. They did fit, but they were a bit snug. Since I only had to walk a short distance for graduation, it was okay. If I were to wear them out now, it would be impossible. But, today I am going to share a small secret with you... JUST MAKE THE SHOE BIGGER!

Similar to my graduation shoes; darker pink

To expand the shoes:

1. Fill ziploc sandwich bags with water and slip them into your heels, making sure they touch the main crevices you want to expand. I usually just use two sandwich bags to fill mine.
2.Place the shoes with the ziploc bags into the freezer. If the freezer has food, place them in a plastic bag to be sanitary.
3. Leave overnight.
4. Check the next morning, if the shoe is still small, fill the ziploc bags with more water and repeat the process.

Hope this trick works for you too!
