Cheetahlicious!

Hi Fashionitas!

Welcome to a new academic year! I hope this year is off to a good start and I wish you the best in your classes this semester. Being in graduate school now, I am most certainly trying to adjust and settle in, it is has been a dramatic change!

As you continue on this year, remember two things:

1. Studying is your main focus and you are at school for that end goal/degree. However, do not forget your social life, hobbies, friends, and most importantly, your family.
2. Now, you are that "broke college kid," so you may resort to eating Ramen everyday but remember that you do not have to break the bank $$ to dress to impress.

Dressing to go out to a friend's birthday can be a challenge since you probably want to wear something different that you have never worn before. Once an outfit is on Facebook or Instagram, people pledge to never repeat that outfit ever again and I totally understand! However, start to buy pieces that you can style in multiple ways to compliment any outfit! I love neutral jewelry, basic colored clothing, and bold bags and shoes.

For this outfit, I wore my basic body-con dress (Forever 21 $12) that I have worn twice previously on the blog. I accessorized with a basic red (pop of color) clutch (Limited $15) , and a silver/chrome necklace (Forever 21 $8) that I wear all the time. I could have chosen a pair of black heels but I opted for my cheetah heels (Sears $5) that tend to always go well with any solid colored dress. Printed shoes and bags are a great investment as they will jazz up your outfit!

Knowing you can look great on a small budget is a great feeling. Splurge on the other greater things in life instead. :)

Tuesday Tips 21: Cold Awakening!

Hi Beauties!
We all have rough nights that turn into rough mornings. When you look in the mirror, the first thing you will notice are those puffy under eye bags! First and foremost, go to your kitchen and place two metal spoons into the freezer for 15 minutes. In the meantime, wash your face with a cooling face wash to awake your senses.
Before getting ready for the day, put the spoons from the freezer over your eyes for 4 to 5 minutes. Then, flip them over and gently press the bottom rounded surface against your puffy bags. This method will help get rid of your puffy under eye bags and water retention.

Check out my post from last week on a few makeup tips and tricks to fake your beauty rest!

BunGEE Jumpsuit!

Hi Beautifuls!

Since I did a bun tutorial this past Tuesday, I thought I would sport my bun again with a jumpsuit from H&M. It is no secret that jumpsuits are and were a necessity this summer and past spring. I enjoy the different patterns but mostly love the continuous silhouette jumpsuits make by lengthening the body. You can find jumpsuits in fun floral patterns for casual wear or solids for a more night out look!

I purchased this jumpsuit for only $8 as it was on sale at the time. Seriously guys, check your H&M! They have deals of the day and surprise sales going on all the time...I feel like I have not purchased anything for full price from there in a while! This jumpsuit is already a millions shades of blue, so I went for a solid white bubble necklace (Charlotte Russe $14) for a subtle contrast. I finished off with black heels (Mandee's $15), a navy quilted purse (DKNY), and a few statement gold jewelry.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! Make sure to watch my bun tutorial that I posted this past Tuesday, it will seriously become your favorite go-to hair!

Tuesday Tips 20: Shutup! Put A Sock(bun) In It!

Hi Beauties!

My go-to hair has been the top bun this summer. I like how it looks clean, neat, and different but most of all, I love how simple it is to do! My friends always ask me how I get "the bun," and I simply tell them to get the net-like pre rolled sock buns (that can unroll) that are sold almost anywhere. However, I realized that it can be very frustrating to work with if you are not a pro at it. When I first started using the bun, I used to get super irritated halfway that I would stop and just toss my hair in a messy bun.

For today's Tuesday Tip, I thought it would be the most useful if I filmed a video on how to use the sock bun. I usually do it myself, but for the sake of this video I had my sister do it to keep it short and sweet! As you can see from the video, my hair is knotty, wavy, and really frizzy, but regardless of the hair you can achieve the prefect bun!

You Will Need:
A net sock bun (must be able to unroll)
Hairspray
Bobby pins
Hair Tie

Fake Your Beauty Rest!

Hi Beautifuls!

During the school year, we all have one of those mornings where we wake up looking like a zombie, deprived and restless. Unfortunately, this upcoming year will not be any different. Here are a few makeup tips and tricks that can help you look more awake and ready to conquer the day!

1. Moisturize and use a dewy foundation
Matte foundation on a tired face can have the skin seem deprived and dry. Opt for a dewy foundation along with moisturizer to look refreshed and youthful. If you have oily skin, use your normal matte foundation but just make sure you moisturize just as well before hand!
Recommendations:
Oily Skin: Revlon Photoready Airbrushed Foundation
Dry Skin: Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

2. Brows
Eyebrows frame the face. If you do not want to go the full nine yards with eyeshadow and highlight in the dreadful morning, fill in your brows. Great eyebrows can transform your face for the best!

3. White Eyeliner
White eyeliner is my favorite for those days that I want bigger, more awake eyes. Apply it on your bottom lashes and the inner corner of your eye. A white eyeliner, unlike darker eyeliner will make your eyes look brighter.

4. Blush
A little blush can go a long way, it adds color to the face while helping it appear more youthful and fresh. Stay awake from dark reds and pinks as they can make you look dull and dirty.

5. Mascara
If I only had to use one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would be mascara. With just one coat you will look 10x more awake and glamorous with long bold lashes.

6. Lipgloss
A dry cracked lip is the first sign of hydration deprivation, and anyone will notice when you talk. Apply a brighter lipgloss that will give you great coverage without drying out your lips. Btw, NYX butter glosses are my favorite! Only $5, so check them out!

I hope you enjoyed! Remember this the next time you want to fake a beauty sleep after a crazy all-nighter. :)

Wedge It To Class!

Hi Fashionistas!

I love shoes that I can wear both under casual and dressy outfits! It is better to buy a dual purpose shoe rather than having to get a pair for each individual outfit. My Blossom wedges from BEARPAW (FOUND HERE) have become my new favorite dual purpose shoe and I have been rocking them under an array of looks. They are ultra comfortable, trendy, and super lightweight! Both wedges, together, weigh less than 3 pounds, I could run to class if I had to!

Today, I thought it would be fun to show you two different outfits you could wear to class with the same pair of wedges!

1. Casual Tee
I paired my white v-neck tee (Forever 21 $5) with my favorite pair of skinny jeans (Pacsun 2/$60). For accessories, I wore a pair of studs, a few Alex and Anis, and my bright teal Longchamp. To kick the outfit up a notch, I slipped on the wedges. Incorporating accent colored wedges can add life to any simple outfit without going overboard.

2. Dress To Impress
I tucked my light teal top (Forever 21 $13) into a white laced skirt (Marshall's $15) and accessorized with a pearled gold/teal necklace (Forever 21) and earrings. For shoes, I know that clanking to class in heels is a clear no-no. Wedges are a much better option as they are casual enough for class but dressy enough to wear under a girly outfit.

I hope you enjoyed! Definitely invest in a good pair of wedges like these as they are versatile and can save you $ by not having to purchase pointless others. And remember, accent colored shoes in an outfit will never do you wrong!

Tuesday Tips 19: Face's Redness Relief!

Hi Beauties!

I find myself searching for acne or pimple fighting tips all the time. My struggle with my face used to be up and down...now, it seems only like an uphill battle! Today's tip will be helpful when you get those unexpected and unwelcome red guests on your face before an important occasion. Sometimes these blemishes can be simply camouflaged with makeup but often the redness may too potent that no amount of makeup in the world can cover it!

But, there is a way...

The next time you are in this situation, saturate a Q-tip in Visine and apply it to the site of the redness and inflammation for a minute or two. This will not get rid of the blemish, but the Visine will help get rid of the inflammation and redness to make it easier for your concealer or foundation to cover it up.

Hope this helps!

Frolicking Fedora!

Hi Fashionistas!

Demin and cutoffs shorts are in everyone's wardrobe this summer as it's the easiest choice to gravitate towards! Even for me, demin will be a lifetime go-to. However, in the summer I attempt to steer clear from it because I hate how it can weigh you down on a humid day.

For those days, I gravitate towards light, airy materials, like the ones I am wearing here. I bought these pink embriodered shorts from Marshalls for only $15! Unlike, many articles of clothing, these shorts look good on almost anyone! No matter if you are lacking the behind, legs, or thighs, you can strut in these shorts with confidence!

I paired it with my white shirt (H&M $18) and white strapped sandals (Forever 21 $9). To accessorize such a risk free and relaxed outfit, I added my fedora (channeling my inner Bruno Mars lol) and my pearl colored bubble ring! I almost never wear fedoras on my casual outfits, but wearing pieces that you usually would never wear can make any outfit feel fresh and new!

I hope you enjoyed and remember hats aren't only for the winter season...rock them in the summer too!

Tuesday Tips 18: Get The Most Bang From Your Eyeshadows!

Hi Beautifuls!

The biggest makeup disappointment is when the color in the bottle or palette is different from the color that appears on your face. It happens so many times, especially with eyeshadows and it can throw off your whole look.

The next time you apply eyeshadow, apply it with a wet brush. "Baked" eyeshadows already require water, but it helps with regular eyeshadows too! This will make the color more vibrant and darker. You can use regular water, saline drops, or Visine eyedrops.

ELF Eyeshadows: Left: dry | Right: wet
I have tried this method with ELF eyeshadows ($) and the Urban Decay Naked palette ($$$) but it worked the same, so don't think your inexpensive eyeshadows are hopeless just yet!

Orange Is The New Black!

Hi Fashionistas!

Happy August All!  We only have about one more month till we have to head back to school. Sometimes when I am planning an outfit I will start with one item and work the other pieces around it.  I find it to be therapeutic because of it's non-overwhelming process and also find that it's a fool-proof way to assemble the perfect outfit.

I did the same with this outfit when I assembled it around this vibrant orange envelope clutch. Since the main focus of attention was the clutch (Marshalls $20), I wanted to wear a simple one toned outfit to emphasize it.  I was feeling a cute flare this day but none of my white or black dresses gave me that so I wore this black cropped top (H&M $11) over my favorite black circle skirt (H&M $16). My earrings (Forever 21 $6) were a shade close to the color of the clutch which I thought would establish the perfect balance between black and orange.

Last off, I slipped on a gold watch, my go-to Tory flats and put my hair in a low side bun, because nothing makes me feel elegant and pretty like a simple bun.
PS: Be on the lookout for a bun tutorial! Coming soon....

I hope you enjoyed this post and remember to check off your last minute summer bucket list items!
